Whether she’s booked for a styling assignment from one city to another, the petite style maven packs a grande punch when she steps onto the pavement of the concrete jungle. I believe that it is important to invest in the future of tomorrow,” stated Erika.
Row A Seat 1 had the pleasure of interviewing a fellow Chicago Kid on her love for fashion, personal style, and check out what she mentions is the best thing about herself…
Row A Seat 1: When did you fall in love with fashion?
Erika Degraffinreaidt of French Vendetté: I believe that I’ve always had a love for the art of fashion. Ever since I was young I always dressed different and I loved the clothing that no one else would dare wear. I’ve always felt that fashion has a way of defining who you are or how you feel; fashion is truly a beautiful thing!
My personal style is dope because… I literally wear what I want. I don’t really focus on only wearing a specific brand or designer; I wear things that are eclectic, but still chic. I’m really into statement pieces whether it’s a cool bag, jacket, or shoe! I’m not too big into following trends, I believe that when you have styled it is evolutional and it sees no time.
Row A Seat 1: Name some designers that you adore! Why?
ED: I love Marc Jacobs, Lanvin, Suncoo, Fiorucci, Hood by Air, and so much more! Each designer is very different on their own because it’s classic with an edge, cool, and no matter what, they are transitional and can be worn from day to night, and when paired together it gives a cool and fresh look.
Row A Seat 1: Explain the genesis of your career. How will your legacy help the youth?ED: Ever since I started in the fashion industry, I’ve always had a special place in my heart for the youth and helping people; particularly those that are less fortunate. I believe that when you have been placed in a position of influence, it’s important that you live up to that by not just living out your dreams; but helping others towards their’s as well.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the greatest honor to speak at elementary schools, high schools, and colleges, on following your dreams and through these speaking engagements I’ve given away four different scholarships. I believe that it is important to invest in the future of tomorrow. I supply them with the tools of knowledge to help them to grow, share their experiences in hopes, and inspires them to take risks and live up to their full potential.
Lastly, encourage them to just always treat people well. I’m really big on that! That is overall the genesis of my career, and I try my best to live up to that each and every day through my work and the words that I speak.

The best thing about me is… Hmmm, many people would say my humility and how humble I am. I would say it’s my ability to treat people well and motivate them to be the best they can be.
Being a stylist is… Rewarding!

The dopest advice I’ve received as an entrepreneur… To never give up when times get hard, keep pushing, and BELIEVE in the magic of the dream(s) that were implanted in you! Live, Love, Inspire!
