The moment I was gifted a bevy of Lucid Rebellion bracelets by Q. Hudson (Creative Director of High End Junkie) I was hooked immediately. There wasn’t a time when I rocked this wrist yummy that I didn’t receive a compliment or question of purchase. I am definitely a connoisseur of accessories; bracelets to be exact, but I knew I had to do a feature on Lucid Rebellion.
This summer, Row A Seat 1 caught up with Shpree and we chatted about fashion and inspiration while designing for new collections… Check out the images below from the LR look book and LR best seller pieces.
Row A Seat 1: When did you fall in love with fashion?
Shpree Gray of Lucid Rebellion: I fell in love with fashion my sophomore year of high school. We wore uniforms and I hated it. So I always tried to find a way to dress up the boring navy pants, white polo shirts and black shoes.
Row A Seat 1: Define style.
Shpree: I believe style is whatever you think is stylish. It’s all about being comfortable and confident in your choices. It shows us who you are.
Row A Seat 1: Lucid Rebellion is…
Shpree: “Stay Fly – Stay Lucid” is the motto. It defines the foundation for Lucid Rebellion. Continue to style and stay conscious in this world. Founded and based on the Southside of Chicago, LR is an accessory brand that strives to compliment everyone in any situation. I pride myself on the handmade aspect of every piece that stands out from other accessory brands. I just want everyone to break rules and have fun.
Row A Seat 1: Where do you pull inspiration for your latest collections?
Shpree: It may sound corny, but my inspiration comes from opening my eyes everyday and really looking at everything. From colors, patterns, moods, and wanting to shake this lane up. Doing the opposite or strengthening the boring designs that are circling the world.
Row A Seat 1: What are your faves pieces of jewelry?
Shpree: My favorite pieces? You can’t ask that. Lol. They’re all my favorite. They’re from the heart and creativity. I wear everything I make.
Row A Seat 1: How will Lucid Rebellion progress by next year?
Shpree: Well, I’m an accessory brand. I just had to tell myself this a few months ago. I have a couple things in the works that’s outside of jewelry. I don’t want to give it away. Still nervous about it, but confident it’ll get a great response.
