After relocating to Arizona (2012), the Chicago native decided to re-evaluate her career goals by trying her hand as an entrepreneur. Latasha Nicole reminisced on a promise she made to her mother and father that she would always ‘follow her dreams, pursue her passions and live life to the fullest.’

Row A Seat 1: When did you fall in love with fashion?

Latasha Nicole of Promise LLC: I fell in love with fashion, when I was around 17-18. Growing up the baby girl with three older brothers, I was such a tomboy, and after high school, I came into my own. Started experimenting with prints, colors, etc.

Row A Seat 1: And all Promise nail polishes are 100% vegan and animal cruelty-free…

Latasha Nicole: Yes, all nail colors are 100% Vegan and Cruelty-free.

Row A Seat 1: What inspired you to start a nail polish company?

Latasha Nicole: Since I was a little girl, I always enjoyed getting my nails polished. With three brothers and my dad at home, it was the one thing that my mom and I did by ourselves, and was something that I looked forward to every week. The vegan piece came later in life after I read articles and did my own research and learned about the harmful chemicals and animal by-product found in regular nail polish and the potentially cancerous effects of gel. I love getting my nails done and taking my niece and friends daughters for manicures, so I knew that if I was going to have my own nail polish line, I wanted it to be as safe as possible.

Row A Seat 1: Why the name Promise?

Latasha Nicole: A few days before my father passed away (which happened suddenly)…we were talking, and he said to me “I want you to promise that you will always live your life to the fullest, pursue your dreams, and fulfill your passions”… And my reply was “Promise.” So I decided to name the line “Promise” in memory of my father, so he’d know that conversation always stuck with me and I am pursuing something I am passionate about…and well… “A lady always keeps her promise” lol.

Row A Seat 1: For spring/summer, which colors can we look forward to from Promise?

Latasha Nicole: The SS17 colors I have a few new colors coming to include: a pastel purple, peach, iridescent pink, sparkling white, cobalt blue… so far.
