Selecting Kéla as the newest ‘Insta-Style Crush’ kick-off was a no-brainer. Instantly I was blown away after scrolling pass a pic of her working alongside Lady @Fatbellybella aka Erykah Badu. And I’m ALWAYS gamed for finding fly girl bosses on my timeline…
Trust Me, Kéla’s style and personality is definitely something to crush on, but I’ve become affected by her positive personality and the way she motivates her followers to be their best self no matter what… I LOVE IT!
Besides being blown away by her ‘go-getter’ work ethic, Kéla’s wardrobe and accessories are absolutely dope and I’m here for it all! So, it was only right that I reached out to Ms. ‘This is The Kéla Walker Show, (shaking pointer finger from side to side) NOT The Walker Kéla Show’ for a quick Q&A of her favorite things. Check it out below…
Row A Seat 1: When did you fall in love with fashion?
Kéla Walker: I’ve loved fashion for as long as I can remember. I’m a girly girl so fashion has always been a major influence.
Row A Seat 1: What’s your definition of style?
KW: For me, style is your voice in clothes and fashion. It doesn’t matter where you shop, it’s what you do with the clothes and how you pull a look together that makes style.
Row A Seat 1: Kéla, you have five Emmy nominations under your designer belt – Congratulations! Tell us about some of the amazing projects that were nominated.
KW: I’ve been nominated across the board for my skills, both as an on-air talent and producer. Most recently, I was nominated for a series I created and conceptualized every detail from A- Z. The series, Catalyst, highlights the unsung heroes of NYC who go above and beyond their own needs for the greater good of their community. I love to create engaging programming and it’s an honor to be recognized for my work, whether as a host or producer.
Row A Seat 1: Besides Zappos and Ditto.com as your favorite sites to shop, what other sites are your holy grail for fashion?
KW: I’m all the way into Zara, H&M, Forever 21. You name it, Im shopping it. Believe it or not, I don’t believe in paying a lot for fashion. Trends change, waist lines expand and a clearance sale is always around the corner.
I‘m no fashion snob so I’ll shop everywhere from Target to Barney’s. if it’s not an investment staple – I’m gamed for anywhere. However, shoes and handbags, well, that’s another story. Those tend to be investment pieces.
Row A Seat 1: Tell me your obsession with David Yurman bracelets.
KW: I simply love the classic, timeless pieces of the brand. They compliment pretty much everything you wear them with whether dressed up or down. My stack of DY’s along with my Hermes bracelets are defintintely investment pieces -ones that I think can be passed down to my unborn daughter.
