RowASeat1: When did you fall in love with fashion?

Lee Justin: I have always loved fashion particularly high fashion like dressing up in nice suits. However, I didn’t really focus on it until I started modeling at the age of 23.

RowASeat1: As a male model in Chicago, how consistent is work?

Lee Justin: Well I’m a freelance model so I try to get as much work as possible. I have to balance my modeling career with my main job and family. I will say I get between three to five gigs a month. I wish it were so much more.

RowASeat1: Tell us what inspired you to become a model?

Lee Justin: It was an accident to be honest. My classmates in high school said I should model after seeing my senior pictures but I didn’t take it seriously until I went with one of my friends to a fitting to support them.

The designer looked at me and said he wanted to use me in his show and I agreed and that’s how I started. From that point on I just fell in love with it. So I will give credit to my classmates, friends and to the designer because they inspired me to try it.

RowASeat1: Are you ever shy in front of the camera? If so, how did you overcome your shyness?

image_1Lee Justin: Yes, I have a shy spirit naturally. It’s weird because once I am in front of the camera I just have fun and do my best and the shyness just fades away during the process.

I truly become a different person in front of the camera or on the runway. I get into character.

RowASeat1: Often times the modeling industry gets a bad rep with the jealousy and egos amongst models and agencies. Have you encountered any of this behavior?

Lee Justin: Yes, but its just something you have to accept and work around. I try to remain as humble as possible in this industry and keep moving forward despite negative attitudes.

RowASeat1: Which designer’s show would you like to walk in? Why?

Lee Justin: Where do I begin? I would love to walk for Versace, Victor & Rolf, Calvin Klein, Borris Powell, Tom Ford, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and Alexander McQueen, just to name a few. The experience would be great and to meet such extraordinary designers would be epic. I could learn so much and being in their clothes would make me feel like a million dollars.

RowASeat1: Besides modeling, do you have any hidden talents?

Lee Justin: I have never been trained, but I love to sing. I would like to receive training because I believe I could be so much better than I am.

RowASeat1: Which male models do you look up to in the industry? Have you learned anything from them that allowed you to upgrade your talents?

Limage_4ee Justin: Allow me to begin with Corey Baptiste, Sean O‘Pry, Tyson Beckford, Jon Kortajarena, Sam Norris and Rob Evans. It’s the presence in which they exude in their pictures are off the charts.

I feel like they’re staring into my soul when I look at their work. They also look different in their photos. So I try to display that same look in my work. I want people to look at my work and feel the exact same way.

RowASeat1: Name five things you can’t live without?

Lee Justin: I can’t live without love, God, family, Mexican food, and humor. Maybe technology.

RowASeat1: What do you plan to accomplish from the modeling industry?

Lee Justin: My ultimate goal is to become supermodel status. I want to travel the world and walk for any designer I can, and book major campaigns or commercials. This is my passion so I want to make it my full time priority. Of course I would love to be paid for all of this in the process so I can continue to make it my focus.
